Married over two decades, John and Meredith Flanagan live in Glastonbury, UK, known as the ancient Isle of Avalon.
A natural psychic, John was born Catholic, in rural southern Ireland. He was nurtured and kept connected to the ‘other-worlds’ by running free along the Mad River and throughout the Ox Mountains. He describes his childhood as although not wealthy in money, wealthy in spirit. With a compassionate mother and headmaster Grandfather, weekly games around the kitchen table, and shelves overflowing with books, their home was a revolving door for neighbours in need.At eighteen, due to the unfortunate early passing of his beloved mother, John came to England. Forced into independence early, he quickly learned the harsh realities of life, leading him to explore the ‘nature of existence’. Inspired, John spent years studying metaphysics, meditation, and reading philosophy, even contemplating becoming a monk at one point. However, it was not his fate to spend another lifetime in solitude and contemplation.
Meredith, in stark contrast to John, had a somewhat privileged upbringing. She was born in Manhattan, and raised in the suburbs of Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley. Meredith roamed shopping malls instead of rivers, and spent most of her youth in cinemas, restaurants, and exploring the seedy depths of early 90’s underworld Hollywood, with a circle of great friends. Due to her passion for storytelling and film, born out ofa life long habit of escapism through cinema, she vowed one day that she would write something that moved people, and take them on an essential journey. Meredith grew up fearful of guns, violence, and disillusioned by a materialistic and unsympathetic culture of America’s ‘Reagan’ era. At 18, she left the U.S. for Paris, to study Culture and Language. While studying in Paris, she visited London, and had a‘knowing’ that England was her home. Always a searcher, when done with her studies in Paris, Meredith visited Glastonbury and while at a spiritual centre, had a fateful meeting with John. The two connected instantly, but John was in a relationship at the time, and Meredith was still very ‘young at heart’. She left Glastonbury asking the universe to, “please bring me a man like that”.
The universe delivered. After years of working internships, PR for the music industry, and having various international misadventures, Meredith returned to London to get her Bachelors Degree in Creative Writing and Drama. On a weekend break to Glastonbury at the spiritual centre where they first met, John now single, was guided to go to the morning mediation. Meredith was there too. The rest is history.
Meredith’s spiritualpath has taken her to the feet of the ‘Divine Mother’ for the past 16 years, although, now she feels temporarily ‘pushed from the nest’ to learn to fly. She has many qualifications in alternative therapies. She founded and ran a natural perfumery which was inspired by the sacred feminine and Arthurian mythology.
John’s healing practice took hold several decades ago, after having a near death experience in Turkey. It was during this event, that John was shown all of his past lives and his purpose for being. This informed and inspired his spiritual guidance and healing practice, which aids in removing blocks, and guides people to find and trust their own inner connections.
During a deep meditative experience many years ago, John had been told of a sacred site in America waiting to be revealed, but that it wasn’t time yet. Over the years, he kept meditating on it, trying to gain more insight, but was not readily given any information. It was only through the decision of John and Meredith to write together, balancing the masculine and the feminine, that this message was able to be brought through in the most magical of ways. Writing their novel, Hidden In Plain Sight…a Journey of Ascension, was one of their greatest joys, and greatest gifts. The story they tell centres on the Statue of Liberty as a living embodiment of the divine feminine, holding a space for people to work through their karmic blockages as they ascend to the crown. Their book is rich in exploring the importance of ancestral patterns that come through both past lives and DNA. John has been guided on future work, and they are currently planning a group tour to New York based on the book. Meredith is working on turning the story into a screenplay.
They describe themselves as the perfect yin/yang, polar opposites but the same at the soul core…John, as an introvert/extrovert Gemini, and Meredith, as an extrovert/introvert Sagittarius. Together they have made a home in Glastonbury, and have worked hard to find a balance of a spiritual life in a material world. In the past two decades, they have slowly payed off their karmic debts to each other, rubbing off rough edges, and healing wounds, while fostering a deep love and respect for one another. Glastonbury has a way of bringing up the shadow, not for the faint hearted, as it demands spiritual growth.
Together, John and Meredith own Divine Light Tours and Divine Light Accommodation, providing transformational journeys in the UK. John uses his intuitive abilities to guide his pilgrims, aided by the archetypes and sacred energies of the land. Facilitating rituals and ceremonies, John helps people to move through blocks, freeing themselves to discover their true nature. Meredith escorts John on larger tours, looking after the groups and adding special extras, when she’s not needed to run their holiday rental properties in central Glastonbury.
Their greatest co-creation and greatest teacher, is their beautiful and feisty Celtic-American millennial daughter.
